The Aluminium Federation (ALFED) has launched the UK Aluminium Alliance (UKAA), a cross-sector initiative to strengthen aluminium's role in the UK's industrial future, aligned with the government’s new Industrial Strategy and energy cost reforms.
Unveiled at the House of Lords, the Alliance will coordinate efforts across smelters, recyclers, manufacturers, and OEMs to drive investment, policy reform, and highlight aluminium’s strategic importance in defence, construction, manufacturing, and net-zero transitions.
Focused on five priority areas – energy pricing reform, sector mapping, workforce development, circular market growth, and policy engagement – it aims to position aluminium as critical infrastructure, not just a recyclable material.
Led by ALFED in partnership with Dr Mark Jones of CONETZ, the UKAA will engage with government bodies to ensure aluminium is recognized as a strategic material, supporting Britain’s clean, competitive industrial future.
