Japan-based Asahi Breweries is now offering its full-aperture ‘Mug Can’ in the Singapore market, enabling consumers to enjoy a draught-beer experience of Super Dry at home.
Following the launch of the Asahi Super Dry ‘Nama Jokki’ in South Korea, the brewery is selling the self-foaming beer in Singapore, and it has plans to target Hong Kong, as well as other territories in the Far East.
The 340ml version of the can, initially launched in Japan, won Gold in the Beverage Two-Piece category of the 2021 Cans of the Year Awards, after being entered by canmakers Daiwa Can Japan, which developed the end, and Showa Aluminum Can, now renamed Altemira, which manufactured the cans. In 2022 Asahi then introduced a 485ml version of the Mug Can.
Behind the foaming beer is a special lining inside the aluminium can designed to create a frothy head of beer when opened, which is similar to freshly-poured draught beer from a tap. ‘Nama Jokki’ is translated as ‘draught beer mug’.
Asahi suggests an optimum serving temperature of 4-8 deg C, but states that if the temperature is more than 12 deg C the foam will overflow.
