Ball is making investments to increase its production capacity in India Nov 08, 2025

Global sustainable aluminum packaging leader Ball Corporation has announced a 55 million 2024 expansion of its Taloja plant (Maharashtra, near Mumbai). The strategic moves reinforce Ball’s commitment to India’s fast-growing consumer market, one of Asia’s most dynamic.

“This investment advances our focus on scaling in high-potential markets and securing long-term competitiveness,” said Mandy Glew, President of Ball Beverage Packaging EMEA and Asia. “We’re also exploring further investments to support India’s growth, driven by rising demand for sustainable aluminum packaging.”

India’s beverage can market is projected to grow over 10% annually for five years, with dairy (RTD and milk-based drinks) emerging as a key segment adopting aluminum packaging. Ball’s retort technology enables extended shelf life while preserving taste and nutrition, positioning it as a leader in India’s packaging transformation.

Manish Joshi, Regional Commercial Director – Asia for Ball Beverage Packaging India, noted the investment enhances customer service speed and flexibility, while supporting local skill development and supplier partnerships. Since entering India in 2016, Ball has offered a full range of beverage can sizes (185ml–500ml) for global and domestic brands via its Taloja and Sri City facilities, with the latest investment strengthening regional supply chains to meet sustainable packaging demand.
