Ball is making investments to increase its production capacity in India Jan 28, 2026

 

Global sustainable aluminum packaging leader Ball Corporation has announced new strategic investments in India, aiming to meet surging local customer demand and bolster the regional supply chain in this high-potential Asian consumer market.

 

Following a nearly $55 million investment in its Taloja can manufacturing facility (Maharashtra, near Mumbai) in 2024, the company is pouring another approximately $60 million into its Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh, close to Chennai.

 

Mandy Glew, President of Ball Beverage Packaging EMEA and Asia, emphasized that India is a core part of the company’s global strategy. She noted that these investments are part of a targeted push to scale operations in high-growth markets and secure long-term competitive edges. Ball is also exploring further investment opportunities in India, as more brands and consumers are opting for aluminum packaging solutions.

 

These moves directly support the expansion of India’s beverage can market, which is projected to grow by over 10% annually in the next five years. Driven by shifting consumer preferences for sustainable and convenient packaging, new product categories—especially dairy-based drinks—are gaining traction. Ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages and milk drinks are increasingly adopting aluminum packaging, and Ball’s retort innovation technology helps these products achieve extended shelf life while preserving taste and nutritional value. This capability solidifies Ball’s role as a key driver of packaging transformation in India’s evolving beverage sector.

 

Manish Joshi, Regional Commercial Director for Asia at Ball Beverage Packaging India, described this as a pivotal moment for the local team. He stated that the investments will enhance the company’s ability to serve customers with greater speed, flexibility and reliability. Joshi added that Ball is committed to contributing to local skill development, and strengthening partnerships with domestic suppliers and customers to drive market growth, sustainability and customized technical innovation for India.

 

Since entering the Indian market in 2016, Ball has gradually expanded its local footprint via the Taloja and Sri City facilities, offering a diverse range of beverage can sizes (185ml, 250ml, 300ml, 330ml, 500ml) that cater to both global and leading domestic brands.
