Beiersdorf and Ball Corporation have achieved a major milestone in their strategic partnership by fully switching all Beiersdorf’s European aerosol cans to 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) aluminum, a significant progress for sustainable packaging and the circular economy.
Starting with a successful pilot in 2024, the 100% PCR aluminum packaging was fully rolled out in Europe last year, being used for many NIVEA MEN Deo sprays and some 8x4 sprays, which helps Beiersdorf cut aluminum packaging emissions greatly and strengthens Ball’s leading position in Europe.
This cooperation proves the technical and commercial feasibility of large-scale fully recycled aluminum packaging. Beiersdorf aims to reach Net Zero by 2045, while Ball is committed to reducing absolute emissions by 55% by 2030, both fulfilling their sustainability promises.
Aluminum is highly circular, recyclable without quality loss and 95% less energy-consuming to recycle than to produce from raw materials. This milestone calls on the industry to enhance value chain cooperation and promote circular economy, with Ball continuing to innovate for a Net Zero future.
