Heineken Brazil announced its Brazilian canned water brand, Mamba Water, will be served at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém. Partnering with Brazil’s federal government, the company will donate 1.5 million cans of Mamba Water to participants in COP30’s Blue Zone—the key protected space for global climate talks and decisions. This marks the first time a COP Blue Zone will offer delegates water in aluminum cans, with a joint effort to manage the cans’ end-of-life and reintroduce them into the value chain.
The initiative is made possible through Heineken Spin (Heineken Brazil’s social impact ecosystem) and collaboration with partners like Ball Corporation, Novelis, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, Reaqt Water Technologies, and the city of Belém. Empty cans will be collected, transported to a recycling plant, melted down, and turned into new aluminum foil to reenter the value chain.
Mauro Homen, Heineken Brazil’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, said the move highlights Heineken’s focus on sustainable partnerships and targeted innovation. He noted the company’s local projects in Belém and Pará state—from water access and reforestation to renewable energy and local cultural investments—align with its global “Brew a Better World” strategy and support sustainable growth.
Beyond COP30, Heineken Brazil has ongoing sustainability projects in Belém and Pará: installing water treatment stations to provide over 20 million liters of safe drinking water to underserved families; partnering with Belém to create an urban microforest with 1,000+ seedlings of 35 Amazonian species (to lower local temps, boost humidity, and retain rainwater); expanding its Green Energy Program to supply renewable energy to local businesses and households; and investing in local culture (e.g., restoring Casa Dourada) and youth training (in audiovisual production and AI).
These efforts reflect Heineken’s global “Brew a Better World” strategy, which combines environmental action, social responsibility, and community engagement to drive lasting impact.
