August 8, 2025 – Lion, a leading beverage company in Australia and New Zealand, has announced its achievement of Certified B Corporation status, marking a significant milestone as the certification now applies to its entire business, following individual brand certifications like Stone & Wood.
Sam Fischer, Lion Group CEO, emphasized that while social and environmental responsibility has long been part of Lion’s DNA, the B Corp Certification provides a framework to deepen this commitment. “This independent verification shows we measure success not just in profit, but in positive impact,” he stated. Lion scored 80.6 on the B Impact Assessment—above the 80-point minimum and the 50.9 median for ordinary businesses—and has updated its constitution to ensure directors consider long-term impacts on all stakeholders.
Andrew Davies, CEO of B Lab Australia & Aotearoa New Zealand, hailed Lion’s certification as validation of B Lab’s “Theory of Change,” where early adopters pave the way for larger businesses. “Lion sends a powerful message that prioritizing people and planet alongside profit is achievable,” he said.
The certification covers five impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. It builds on Lion’s existing sustainability milestones, including 100% renewable electricity for Australian operations, early achievement of 2030 carbon targets, water-efficient breweries, 72% recycled content in packaging, and strong diversity and First Nations engagement practices.
Lion joins over 10,000 global B Corps, with its assessment score and impact report available on the B Corp directory.
